In Nayarit Mexican highlands had a community that had no name. Walked for centuries looking for names that community of Huichol Indians. Carlos González found him, by pure chance.
The Huichol Indians had come to the city of Tepic to buy seeds and visit relatives. Passing through a garbage dump picked up a book lying among the debris. For years Charles had learned to read the language of Castile, and could harm than good. Sitting in the shade of a wing, began to decipher pages. The book told of a strange name country that Carlos did not know but that it should be placed well away from Mexico and had a story a few years ago.
On the way back, walking up mountains, Carlos continued to read. Could not shake this story of horror and bravery. The book's central character was a man who had managed to keep his word. On reaching the village, Carlos said, elated:
- finally have a name!
And read the book aloud to everyone. The reading encountered him took almost a week. Then, one hundred and fifty families voted. All alone. With dancers and singing was sealed baptism.
now have to call it. This community is named for a man of dignity, not hesitated to choose between betrayal and death.
