FIRST SESSION (Tuesday 31/10/2006)
Today Tuesday October 31, 2006, at 1 º A Colegio Altamira , we have carried out the first of three days of the workshop "Origami." Valentina Soledad (Here is his blog ), Nadia and I, in concert, we present the construction of 4 objects, or rather 3, since the fourth arises from the storm destroyed one of them .
started building the studio's classic paper boat (a blank sheet) essential vehicle to get out to see the world from the big island of Japan, which is where origami originated and from where comes the samurai imaginary part of this adventure.
continue to build the hull of the samurai Sheet (square), gadgets need to restore dignity to this ancient warrior.
then decided to weigh anchor, given the time passed very quickly, and without reaching our Samurai build, we imagine browsing through a violent storm, which ended up destroying The paper boat sailing, but fortunately and although it was not so close to the coast, managed to swim to the mainland shore and save with life, yes, he could not keep his elegant kimono became a threadbare tattered shirt .
pity us all of the wreck aspect of our dear and courageous warrior, decided to build a ordered short-sleeve shirt (white letter sheet) to help such a worthy show on the outside as a samurai cultivated it is in its interior. Having

Looking for more information on the subject, I wrote to English Candido Gallardo, who has perfected origamist a module dubbed PENTABONITO. Candido kindly sent me the plans for his creation, so thanks to your generosity we can later work on new figures.

4 FIGURES DO WE KNOW ORIGAMI!
The next session on Monday, 6, work a little more complex folds, so it will be very helpful if these figures were presented today, the practice and come already learned. The idea is that arriving at the ORIGAMETRÍA , those little hands emerge complex shapes that do not imagine that it was so easy to teach.

SECOND SESSION
(Monday 06/11/2006)
(Monday 06/11/2006)
Here are a few seconds of the second session of origami. Everyone's wearing their hats made of newspaper size.
Today we reviewed the samurai hat, but in size (with a large sheet of newspaper El Mercurio). We teach to build shuriken (ninja star's secret) is armed with two basic modules and it is our first dive to modular origami. Also introduced the triangular module is the simplest of all
, but is not as easy to assemble, and no subject so well. The triangular module has a basic version, which is what we make in today's workshop. With it you can build the octahedron of the small picture to the left, or more complex shapes such as that which the master origami eastern spear gun and then air rain precipitating Origami color. To the extent that it increases the amount of triangular modules, the harder it is to assemble the geometric shapes, which is why the teacher is forced to use a box to hold the structure. I would say up to 8 modules are assembled, is a relatively easy to control, but above that figure the issue is complicated. inches are 45 min. Origami Workshop, we could present only 3 per session figures in this cycle, so it is essential that parents support the learning from this conference. In today's workshop was that some children had practiced and showed more skill in the folding of the figures in the first day. Make them work with paper from magazines or newspapers, or anything that can be recycled and allows play with shapes and colors.
The next session we will teach the Sonobe Module, which is optimal for this level of learning, as it is easier to build than others, and offers tremendous potential arm when shapes. With little volume prepared a video on the weekend to make them easier to learn the construction of the module, the final show a few figures, by way of example, among the many that can be assembled with Sonobe. In the video, playing a bit with the armed forms as if they were puppets, I had the idea of \u200b\u200bturning them into characters, because that way we will add a new ingredient to the workshop fun. I'm taking Sonobe on white paper, so that children can color, thus we have a sort of "31 Minutes" role, as no rag ... Sonobitos "would be a good name?.
Sonobe module is the fold to be enough, since they are true Lego pieces. I'd say 60 or 100 is an appropriate amount, or more if the enthusiasm allows. not so important that children become experts in the short term make this module, I think it is even better than most of them become adults, since they are well built easy to use, what it is very important, is that our children play with so they can go Sonobe developing skills in a fun way.
Valentina We agreed with that to get more trot to the meeting next Tuesday, we'll get several Sonobe armed, mainly for teaching children to play with them and we are evaluating the possibility of extending the workshop.
Here I put the video mentioned:
is important to get used to always bend to the same side, hopefully as shown in the video (for uniforms), as it bent backwards modules do not fit together.
third and final session
(Tuesday 14/11/2006)
(Tuesday 14/11/2006)
This is the last short video of the final session of the Workshop on Origami. It has done little time, but it was a good start. We have devoted almost entirely to modular origami.
Today we finished the Origami Workshop. Perhaps it was the meeting that there was more concern for learning, and that the children seemed more impressed with the various geometric constructions that we show. The only thing we saw from traditional origami, was the transformation of familiar hat samurai in goldfish, so unexpected that they liked a lot of change. We have also seen 3 types of triangular modules and module Sonobe. We show you several designs that could be built with these modules, disarm some to see in more detail the construction and we are more than 300 Sonobe modules to those that begin learning the assembly of geometric shapes (Valentina and I curled fingers ja ja ja double module). The most famous proved to be the whirligig, spinning top or bayblade, which is constructed with 6 Sonobe and turning gracefully, the movement appealed to all. ( Your complete construction come here, but there treated her as a puppet and did not rotate. This is the video that we prepare with little volume for the second session.)
Each child took home several modules with the idea and practice them in detail, hopefully with the help of his family. It was an enthusiastic and intense time, enjoy it all, and those who attend the workshop has been very useful to draw valuable lessons teaching that we apply later. No doubt 3 sessions of 45 min. is very little time to fully exploit the potential of a workshop like this has. We were many things to do: more practice, more modules, the conversion of the ways puppets, etc., Etc., Etc., But the experience and the ideas that were very valuable.
For those who participated has been a very nice experience and we saw that there were efforts at home to practice with their children. Some were obvious improvements and all without missing one, they were very interested.
Thanks to everyone with whom we share this enthusiasm.
Here is the next video ad, Sonobe used in plastics for the manufacture of various three-dimensional shapes up to 10 modules. But the complexity of structures and objects that can be built with the modules is literally talking unlimited. You can check this statement visiting the website of i-gami , a company that has begun to market the synthetic modules.
