As its title indicates, can not be better ... is impossible! .
years ago, and about nine I dare say, was in the room and prepared to watch a movie with the family, not knowing what I'd find (then about 13 years). What I did not know at that time would see something I mark both cinematically and would become one of my favorite movies ... my weakness.
I speak of Better ... impossible.
Many who know me know that I murga with it, especially those who have not yet seen 'you've gotta see! I can not believe you have not yet seen ... " (I take hands to the head), and, but, as I have it on DVD, quasi-forced to see it with me if possible.
I've lost count of how many times I've seen and re-seen. Or the times I put the DVD just to see some parts in particular ...
And it is one of those that do not get tired, I can know I am the dialogues by heart, it still does not bore me and I am still entertaining and fascinating in the same way that the first time I saw her.
has a star cast, Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt as the protagonists (both winners of this year's Oscar ) ... but the secondary not far behind, with a young and still semi- rookie Greg Kinnear.
They all complement each other perfectly, in every scene, have that special chemistry that nowadays is missing in most movies. You know for sure if they had chosen another that was not Helen, or another that was not Jack, or Greg, and vice versa ... it was not at all the same. Even the dog is perfect!
But not all actors have merit it, of course. Without its director, James L. Brooks , nothing would have been possible. Well, without him, and without Mark Andrus , responsible for the story, and writer with Brooks .
And that's his strong point, the script, superb for my taste. With a fun and realistic dialogue as there are few, and very well played.
The oddities of its main character, fads, obsessiveness, the unpleasantness of their behavior ... all of this, together with the interpretation of Nicholson, Melvin make a being that many would not like meet on the street, but who ultimately end up taking him empathize and love.
A person who when he is forced to be in a situation that wants nothing to do, hit the change almost overnight.
comes in. And Carol 'the waitress' , character Hunt plays better than good, outstanding. Emphasize a particular scene, when he wrote the letter ... cool. Remember that it was she who snatched the Oscar to Kate Winslet, Titanic nominee that year.

Kinnear other hand plays his neighbor, Simon , a poor boy who is dedicated to art and has an unfortunate incident at home ... you endured firsthand the surly and cantankerous nature of his neighbor, but it is one of the leaders in making change, indirectly.
has many memorable scenes, for me it is all a perfect scene for two hours. But if I have to stay with some parts, say, the restaurant, the presentation from Carol and Simon, the bacon, and the final.
That what is wrong? runs.
It is definitely a comedy for anybody who loves good cinema. With flavor to the old, full of well-structured dialogues, realistic, intelligent and funny, and some interpretations best.
