THE TPS (People's Silkscreen Workshop) (text 2004)
Born in the heat of the popular rebellion 19 and 20, the People's Silkscreen workshop was jointly founded in February 2002, allied to one of several popular assemblies that emerged from the rebellion / insurrection December 2001. From then until now is a group of artists working together and act in the context of social struggle and protest movements. Images and slogans
draw a map that filters through the agreements but also from the differences in social and political organizations thus generating processes of identification and belonging. Remove
workshop to the street, socializing the production process, allowed to build a relationship, an art participation ¨ ¨. Likewise, the "technical" and "styles" emerge from a specific situation of an encounter. In this way As the work goes through aesthetic-political situations heterogeneous and these situations are continually redefining what and how.
TPS from the start found their own dynamic, a bit casual, and silkscreen print on a shirt in the middle of the print posters for a street act, that caused a furor among present and since then the TPS is installed in the contexts of struggle to accomplish the same task, print all types of clothing, with images that seek to bear witness to the political mood of each protest. Is to provide an image that identifies control the time and place where the protest takes place in an operation that works with materials both th Dan ¨, hand stamping and the hand that gives the shirt. In this context, printed thousands of posters, t-shirts, flags, vests, sweatshirts, scarves and all kinds of things people are wearing out in love and demand. Currently
think that although it is much easier to generate a social response to specific threats and timely considering that this response is broader and powerful if they have already established the first layers of a social fabric that choose their way of life and questions power relations. Therefore, we need continuous work. The ability to create conditions characteristic of action, a time for thinking itself, an invention where the image can be the hardware of problems where we want to intervene.
